When in doubt of what to wear, I always opt for an all black outfit. This outfit is an embodiment of what I would ideally wear from day to day. I love anything with a long silhouette, so this top is a must for me. Paired together with distressed denim and sneakers, you are ready to tackle the day looking chic yet super comfy. I also opted for my black bucket tote as it not only adds that chic factor, but is extremely practical to just stuff all your necessities when you're on the go.
The weather has been clearing up here in Sydney. Which calls for more skin exposure and less layers. I recently picked up this gorgeous leather jacket from Zara and I have been wearing it a ton! I was on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket for months. The moment I saw this one, I knew right away that it was the one. I have been pairing it with every outfit. For a casual look I would pair it with a white tee + jeans outfit. Then for the night I would pair it with some chic trousers, blouse and some cute heels. It's a great investment piece and an essential in any fashionista's wardrobe.
I want to dedicate this post to an issue that has been on my mind for a while now. I often get asked how I stay confident and comfortable within my own style.
Basically my mentality is this:
Life is too short to conform or be something you're not. If you like something;
WEAR IT. WORK IT. MAKE IT YOUR OWN
I believe that everyone has their own unique style, which they should embrace and share with the world. You should never feel afraid to express your true self. Because if you don’t, who will?
I remember reading a quote from Miuccia Prada that resonated with me which was:
“It’s horrible when people are only interested in buying labels, because it doesn’t bring them the happiness they think it will.”
To me, I don’t really care for the label as such. I base my style upon garments that I genuinely like. So if I enjoy wearing tea-length dresses that may look like it could of belonged to your grandma at some point, then I’m sorry? But I’m going to do me and dress how I want to. I urge everyone reading this post to feel confident in who you are weather it be style wise, or in general. Because, life is too short to not wear those platform booties that have been hiding in your closet. Or for that fringe cowboy jacket your scared to wear because you know it will draw everyone’s attention.
WEAR IT. WORK IT. OWN IT
Live for yourself, not for anyone else.
I hope this post inspires you to take some risks in your life and to embrace who you really are <3 because your beautiful
xx
I was browsing through Style.com and gained inspiration from this post:
http://www.style.com/trends/fashion/2015/street-style-daria-strokous-zana-bayne-harnessI have been rocking this Topshop harness with basically any outfit. The possibilities are endless!
You can pair it with a LBD, or it can be used to spruce up an ordinary outfit. Such as a white tee + jeans combo.
For this look I paired it with an all black outfit and some trainers for a more casual/laid back look.
Add a little edge and step into the dark side with this accessory
Hello my fellow fashion lovers <3
Today I am sharing a look that I have been recently rocking like crazy, which includes this bomb as jumper I found. It was love at first sight with this jumper. Since the day I bought it, I have been wearing it with anything and everything! I have been loving to pair it with ripped denim + boots. A cute combo for this winter
Hello all you beautiful people!
Here is another post about my super fun week that just past. On this day I took my boyfriend to H&M (which he went balls to the walls in lol). Afterwards we quickly went home, changed and then headed into the city where the Winter Yule Festival was happening. We spent the night gallivanting around Chinatown, taking cute selfies and snapping lots of memories. The night ended with us taking a romantic ferris wheel ride, which gave us a breath taking view of Darling Harbour <3
Hello lovely people of the internet! I know I have been gone for more than a week but I am back :) The past week was super fun because my boyfriend came to visit me for a week *yay*
During his stay we explored the city and basically just made up for lost time, since we are currently in a long distance relationship. So all the upcoming posts will be about the adventures we had, along with some sneaky OOTD's

Hello all you lovely people!! I am back with another ‘Come thrifting with me’. This time, I went with my friend Amy who had no experience of thrifting. The moment I found out that she was a thrift-virgin, we immediately set a date to explore the wonders of thrifting!
TIP: For anyone who is new to thrifting, it is essential to have an open mind set. Be open to explore all sections of the store. This includes shoes, size 18+ clothing and even the mens section! You'll be surprised at some of the pieces you find.
To mark the beginning of winter, I decided to dedicate a
post to this glorious long, black coat. I have been waiting for the weather to
get cold enough to wear this bad boy. As always, all black is the way to go.
A TIP FOR WEARING OVERSIZED OUTERWEAR:
Roll/fold the sleeves. Not only does this help shape your silhouette, it also gives the outfit a more relaxed and casual vibe.

From my post “come thrifting with me” I managed to pick up a
few goodies. I tried to style them according to different seasons that each of
you may be experiencing. At the moment here in Sydney, we are in autumn/winter.
While I know that in places such as America it is currently summer.
Hello my lovelies! How is everyone doing? :)
Now I think everyone can relate to those days where you just don't feel like spending an hour or two deciding on what to wear. Or is that just me? Whatever, you know what I mean. So this post is wholly dedicated to that one outfit that you gravitate towards on those days.
I know I can always rely on jeans and a t-shirt combo because as basic as that sounds, there are many ways to remix it. You can play around with the style of your jeans, weather it's a cropped tee or a normal v-neck. The results are endless! Also it is an easy outfit to go from day-to-night in.
I wore this outfit out and about, doing some casual errands and finished the day off by going out to dinner with my parents. I also added a red lippy for a POP of colour!
Hello lovelies! I’m back again with another post. Since I couldn’t get a good photo of what I was wearing in my post “Come thrifting with me” I decided to do a separate post, dedicated to what I was wearing that day.
Since it was a sunny and slightly warm day, I took that as a chance to wear a dress. On that specific day, I felt like going for a boho kind of look. So this is what I came up with! This outfit was perfect for what I planned that day which was just a bit of thrifting and lunch with a friend.
Hello all you lovely people! I am back again with a new
post. This time I am going to show a glimpse of a day where I go thrifting. On Tuesday I went thrift shopping with one of my gal pals.
We hit up one of our fave thrift stores and did a bit of damage.
If I had to give someone one tip on op shopping it would be to:
NEVER GO IN WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS!
Just take your time and cruise through the store. You may find something totally rad, or nothing at all. But that’s the beauty of op shopping right? Go in with zero expectations, snoop around a bit and who knows? You could come across something that makes you think to yourself, “I did not expect to find something this cool!”
Over the weekend, I popped into H&M and picked up these
beauties. I’ve been wanting a pair of these boots for a while now. I love the
minimal heel! It adds a bit of height without making me look outrageously tall (not
like I would anyways lol). I’ve already worn these out and about. They are super
comfy to wear. Great for everyday use and to help spruce up any outfit. I am
absolutely in love with them and am going to be sporting these with almost
every outfit from now on! They are a great essential to add to my shoe rack. I highly recommend them!
On Monday I celebrated my 20th birthday. As much
as I dread knowing that I am getting old, that doesn’t stop me from acting like
a silly kid now and again right? So for my birthday, I celebrated it by going out for a
wonderful dinner with my parents “aw so cute”. So I dressed for the occasion,
making sure that my pants had a stretchy waistband and that I had loose
clothing on so that my food baby wouldn’t make any special appearances.
Hello to all you lovely people! How are we all feeling
today?
Today I’m back with this cozy outfit that you will see me
sporting this autumn/winter. Since Sydney cannot seem to decide what weather it
wants to shower us with, I have put together this simple yet casual outfit that
can cater to all four seasons. I decided to bring back my khaki fur jacket
because I felt that it is such a staple that will never go out of style. I
layered it with an oversized denim shirt for a bit more warmth and texture.
Underneath I have a mesh panel dress that I picked up from Cocolatte. To finish
of the look, I slipped into my trusty doc’s. This outfit is great for running
errands and for those days when you want to look presentable yet comfy and cozy
at the same time!
Hello lovely people of the internet! How are you all doing
today?
Today I am dedicating this entire post to this beautiful
jacket <3 I picked this cute little number up while I was in Auckland
earlier this year, in Finders Keepers down in New Market. It took me a while to
find this gem but once I did, boy was I excited! My initial reaction was “It’s
pink!” lol.
I’ve literally been wearing this jacket non-stop, especially
now that the weather here in Sydney has been dropping to the floor. Paired with
a fuzzy turtleneck and spiked booties, I’m ready for what this winter has to
bring.
Last Friday, my family spontaneously decided to take a trip up to the Blue Mountains. So we gathered a few of the troops, made some snacks and set off. It took us around an hour to get to our destination.
As we got closer to the mountains, forests and trees began to surround us. It was great! It felt like I was back in New Zealand.
I am finally living up to my name thriftmonsta. Yay! On this trip I picked up these three beautiful pieces. If you know me, you will know that I rarely wear colour. HOWEVER! I found this beautiful rich, blue velvet top that is just gorgeous ^.^
OH MY GOODNESS! It has been awhile right? Just incase you've forgotten who I am - Hi, my name is Matelita and I am the gal behind 'Thriftmonsta.' I feel super bad for not posting for the last month or so but brace yourselves! It's 2015 and I am going to be uploading more often, that's a promise.
For my comeback, I decided to share this little outfit that I have been wearing alot. Since it is still summer here in Australia, the weather has been serving some real vitamin D.
To tackle this humid/hot weather, I have been living in easy breezy dresses such as this one.
Now, I picked this dress up at Westfield in Parramatta. Which for those who don't reside in Australia, is one of the main shopping mall's we have here in Sydney. I don't actually remember the name of the store but I do know that everything in there is $10!!! Which is pretty rad.
The first time I saw this dress I was 50/50 on weather I should purchase it or not. It's not something I would usually wear but I decided after trying it on, that it needed to be in my closet. I really love that the shoulders are exposed, it adds a sensual touch which I can appreciate.
I decided to pair this dress with my trusty leather sandals that I have been rocking all summer long. There super comfortable and easy to slip on and off. I thought this outfit needed some sunnies, so I slipped into these round sunnies. I got these from Rubi during the boxing day sale which I am super stocked about.
I wore this outfit multiple times throughout summer and am still continuing to wear it. However, I am so ready for some rain and cold weather! Cannot wait until winter rolls in. As someone who favours the cold weather more than the scorching heat, I am rather excited about that time of the year. So stay tuned for some winter looks, coming real soon lovelies x
